Writing the book, “Laid Off? Don’t Stress! How to Get from Mad to Glad,” was a way of sharing with the world the friendly community she discovered after being laid off for the third time and been given the gift of an outplacement firm. Many of her stories come from expected and unexpected transitions that people successfully maneuvered. CNN picked up the Laid Off book as their favored positive side of being laid off in the summer of 2008 and were especially intrigued by how Kitty embraced the flexibility of owning her own company.
As 2010 president of the Arizona chapter of the National Speaker’s Association and being voted Chapter Member of the Year in 2008. Kitty has the respect of her fellow speakers. She is also an active member of the Association of Applied and Therapeutic Humor (AATH) and is on its national convention planning committee. As a community outreach, Kitty is the weekend retreat leader for the Casting for Recovery, a non-profit get-away for breast cancer survivors to learn to fly-fish.
